  • Nara Prefecture Historical and Artistic Culture Complex

    In March 2022, the roadside station "Nara History, Art and Culture Village" opened in Tenri City. Centered on the facility where you can see the country's first full-scale restoration of cultural properties and exhibitions, there are a variety of facilities such as a farm-fresh vegetable market, an exhibition and sale of traditional crafts, and a tourist information center that makes full use of digital signage.

  • Yamanobe Road

    Yamanobe Road

    It is an ancient road that leads from Miwa through Tenri to Nara, and is said to be the oldest government road among the roads that appear in history. It is thought to be a road that goes north from Ishigami via Miwa, Keiko, and Sujin-ryo from Tsubaiichi, and is about 26km long. There are many tombs, ancient tombs, ruins, old shrines and temples along the road, and it is popular as a hiking course.

  • Isonokami Shrine

    It is said to be one of the oldest shrines in Japan, and there is also a record that it was the supreme guardian deity of the ancient ruling Mononobe clan and was the armory of the Yamato Imperial Court. The worship hall, which is a national treasure, is the oldest shrine building, and is said to have been relocated from the imperial court during the reign of Emperor Shirakawa. The front shrine of Izumo Takeo Shrine, which stands on the stone steps in front of the tower gate, is also a national treasure.

  • Tenri Station Plaza Kofufun

    A large park with a motif of ancient burial mounds in front of JR/Kintetsu Tenri Station. In addition to an outdoor stage and playground equipment, there are cafes, road bike rental sales, and souvenir shops. There is also a children's space, so it is safe to bring children. A concierge is stationed at the tourist information center to support sightseeing in the surrounding area.

    Tenrikyo Church Headquarters

    Tenrikyo is a religion that aims to realize a "joyful life" where all people help each other and live in harmony. Temples and places of worship are always open for anyone to visit.   • Kamitsu-michi road

    In ancient times, the Kamitsu-michi road was an important highway that stretched from Nara-zaka in the north to Fujiwara-kyo in the south. As time went on, it became a path of faith for those who pilgrimage to Hase and Ise. Of the 11km course, we recommend taking a walk from Yamato Shrine to Kurozuka Kofun.

  • Nishiyama Burial Mound

    Nishiyama Burial Mound

    It is the largest keyhole burial mound in Japan. The burial mound was built in three stages, with the middle and upper stages having a front-back circular shape, and the lower stage having a front-back shape. It was built in the latter half of the 4th century (the latter half of the early Kofun period) and has a total length of about 190m. In 1927, it was designated as a national historic site.

  • Itsukushima shrine

    In 1653 (Jōō 2), it was written as ``Jōrenji Chinju Hitokotogami'', and enshrined Benzaitenjo, Hitokotogami. Part of the precincts was designated as the Otabisho of Isonokami Shrine. There are several stone lanterns with an inscription dated 1699.

  • Anaho Shrine

    Former Mukakusha, commonly known as Kifunesha. Originally Tamura's guardian shrine, the sacred precinct is wide, and the shrine is thought to be quite old. It is believed that Kifune no Okami was enshrined as a guardian deity of water for the Furu River. The name of the shrine, Anaho Shrine, was temporarily entrusted to the site of Emperor Anko's Anaho Palace, and was renamed in the first year of the Meiji era.

    If you walk south from Tsubame-House for 1 minute, you will see a spacious paddy field overlooking the Yamato Basin. In the morning, you can see the sun rising from Mt.
